starch sugar

Sugar Starch

Starch Sugar refers to a range of sweetening products derived from starch hydrolysis using acids or enzymes. The liquid forms include maltose, glucose syrup, and fructose syrup, while the solid forms consist of dextrose monohydrate, dextrose anhydrous, crystal fructose, and maltodextrin. These sugar products serve as raw materials for sugar alcohol production through hydrogenation, widely used in food, pharmaceuticals, and chemical industries.

All kinds of starch sugar will be got by starch hydrolysis with acid or enzyme. The liquid products include maltose, glucose syrup, fructose syrup, etc.; The solid products include dextrose monohydrate, dextrose anhydrous, crystal fructose, maltodextrin, etc. Sugar products are used to produce various alcohol products through hydrogenation reaction, which are widely used in food, medicine, chemical industry, and other fields.

Glucose Syrup and Dextrose Production Process

  1. Blending & Liquefaction: Starch slurry is mixed and heated in a jet cooker, breaking it down into smaller carbohydrate molecules.
  2. Saccharification: Enzymes convert liquefied starch into glucose syrup.
  3. Filtration & Purification: The syrup undergoes membrane filtration and filter press to remove impurities.
  4. Evaporation & Crystallization: The concentrated syrup is pre-crystallized, cooled, and passed through a crystallizer to form dextrose crystals.
  5. Separation & Drying: A centrifuge separates the crystals, followed by drying to produce Dextrose Monohydrate (DMH) or Dextrose Anhydrous as the final product.

Key Co-Products of starch sugar Processing

Glucose Syrup

Glucose Syrup

Glucose syrup is a thick liquid sweetener made by hydrolyzing starch with acids or enzymes. It mainly contains glucose, maltose, and malt oligosaccharides, with its composition varying based on hydrolysis. The Dextrose Equivalent (DE) value classifies glucose syrup into low, medium, and high DE categories, affecting its sweetness, viscosity, and reducing power. Commonly used in food, beverage, pharmaceutical, and fermentation industries, glucose syrup acts as a sweetener, humectant, and anti-crystallization agent in products like confectionery, baked goods, soft drinks, and industrial fermentation

Crystallized Dextrose

Crystallized Dextrose is a purified solid form of glucose obtained by crystallizing liquid glucose syrup. It is used in food, pharmaceutical, and fermentation industries due to its high purity, rapid solubility, and natural sweetness. Crystallized dextrose serves as an energy source in medical applications, a sweetener in confectionery and baking, and a fermentation substrate. Available in oral and injection grades, it plays a crucial role in medical nutrition, IV solutions, and sugar alternatives for food production.
