Sugar Starch
Starch Sugar refers to a range of sweetening products derived from starch hydrolysis using acids or enzymes. The liquid forms include maltose, glucose syrup, and fructose syrup, while the solid forms consist of dextrose monohydrate, dextrose anhydrous, crystal fructose, and maltodextrin. These sugar products serve as raw materials for sugar alcohol production through hydrogenation, widely used in food, pharmaceuticals, and chemical industries.
All kinds of starch sugar will be got by starch hydrolysis with acid or enzyme. The liquid products include maltose, glucose syrup, fructose syrup, etc.; The solid products include dextrose monohydrate, dextrose anhydrous, crystal fructose, maltodextrin, etc. Sugar products are used to produce various alcohol products through hydrogenation reaction, which are widely used in food, medicine, chemical industry, and other fields.
Glucose Syrup and Dextrose Production Process
- Blending & Liquefaction: Starch slurry is mixed and heated in a jet cooker, breaking it down into smaller carbohydrate molecules.
- Saccharification: Enzymes convert liquefied starch into glucose syrup.
- Filtration & Purification: The syrup undergoes membrane filtration and filter press to remove impurities.
- Evaporation & Crystallization: The concentrated syrup is pre-crystallized, cooled, and passed through a crystallizer to form dextrose crystals.
- Separation & Drying: A centrifuge separates the crystals, followed by drying to produce Dextrose Monohydrate (DMH) or Dextrose Anhydrous as the final product.

Key Co-Products of starch sugar Processing

Glucose Syrup
Glucose syrup is a thick liquid sweetener made by hydrolyzing starch with acids or enzymes. It mainly contains glucose, maltose, and malt oligosaccharides, with its composition varying based on hydrolysis. The Dextrose Equivalent (DE) value classifies glucose syrup into low, medium, and high DE categories, affecting its sweetness, viscosity, and reducing power. Commonly used in food, beverage, pharmaceutical, and fermentation industries, glucose syrup acts as a sweetener, humectant, and anti-crystallization agent in products like confectionery, baked goods, soft drinks, and industrial fermentation

Crystallized Dextrose
Crystallized Dextrose is a purified solid form of glucose obtained by crystallizing liquid glucose syrup. It is used in food, pharmaceutical, and fermentation industries due to its high purity, rapid solubility, and natural sweetness. Crystallized dextrose serves as an energy source in medical applications, a sweetener in confectionery and baking, and a fermentation substrate. Available in oral and injection grades, it plays a crucial role in medical nutrition, IV solutions, and sugar alternatives for food production.

Main Equipment
below are some examples of machines and complete processing lines suitable for the processing of starch sugar alcohol
Air Dryer
MKAD air dryer is widely applied in the fields of requiring drying process requirements for starch, protein powder, crystallized glucose and other powdery materials.
Spray Dryer
MKSD series spray dryer is an equipment that can finish drying and granulating at the same time. The granule fineness can be
got in accordance with requirements of process by adjusting the pressure & flowrate of the pump and the size of atomizing hole. It is widely used in chemical industry, food industry, pharmaceutical a industry and other industries. The dryer can equip with gas burner which applies CNG as fuel to give much clean environment.
Automatic Dual Fluidized Bed Dryer
Advantages of Automatic Dual Fluidized Bed:
High automation reduces operational errors and ensures continuous processing.
Combined vertical dual fluidized bed and horizontal vibrating fluidized bed optimize drying for small to medium-sized crystalline dextrose, ensuring efficient drying, moderate particle size, and energy savings.
Improved fluidized bed structure enhances yield, leading to greater economic benefits.
High-efficiency cyclone and scrubber dust removal system minimize powder loss, ensuring a cleaner process.
Pre-coating Vacuum Filter
MKPF series pre—coating rotary vacuum filter is the high efficient solid & liquid separation equipment by adding pre—coating technology to the ordinary drum filter. The equipment can realize automatic control and continuous separation of solid and liquid, and improve the transmittance of filtrate , it is widely used in pharmaceutical industry, food industry, chemical industry, etc.
Plate Filter Press
The MKFP series plate filter press is designed for solid-liquid separation across industries such as coal, oil, chemicals, textiles, food, pharmaceuticals, and metallurgy. In fermentation, it efficiently filters suspended solids from fermentation broth.
Utilizing patented polypropylene shaping technology, it features a smooth surface, high strength, lightweight design, corrosion resistance, and non-toxic, odorless properties. The hydraulic system automates frame and plate pressing/releasing, while an electrical contact pressure gauge ensures automatic pressure maintenance.
The welded steel support frame provides high durability under extreme pressure, ensuring stability and longevity. For enhanced automation, the system can be integrated with PLC controls, relay mechanisms, and multiple safety features.
Additionally, the abrasion-proof nonmetallic tracks and bridge-type flexible frame enhance performance, while the maximum pressure capacity reaches 22 MPa, making it highly efficient and reliable.
