Surge Relief Valve
- Description
Description
yasmin group’s surge relief valves are used to prevent an increase in pipeline pressure. If the pressure in the pipeline exceeds the pressure set on the pilot in the valve steering circuit, the pilot-operated safety valve automatically opens and drains the system of the required amount of water. This prevents the pressure in the pipeline from increasing, and once the pressure is reduced, the pilot valve is closed, followed by the main valve, which completes the seal.
The use of surge relief valves in pumping stations is a significant application. The effect of installing a surge relief valve versus not installing one is depicted in Figure 10. For additional information on the proper use of surge relief valves, consult the book which is part of the Water Mechanics Company’s collection of educational books.
